They were cleaning the bike lanes yesterday. Made for huge dust storm. Traffic very backed up

They have put the same surface up here in Toano on Rte 30.  Rougher true!  However, after they apply this surface, they leave a lot of loose gravel they have not cleaned up yet.  I don't think they will. 
What would be nice is if the club could put in a request to VDOT to clean the bike lanes on Centreville Rd.  It's a frequently used road for cyclists to get from one side of the county to the other.

Concerns have been raised by me and others about the new surface recently applied on Monticello having holes and being rougher than the old surface.  I contacted Rossie, my contact at VDOT.  He sent me the following explanation.

The material applied was Latex, which is a preventive overlay to extend the life of good pavement.  It provides another wearing layer and seals any cracks that are forming in asphalt pavement.  It gets smoother with time.

Here's hoping it does get smoother!
