Request for Volunteers for Bike The Bridge 2026

2026 Bike The BridgeJames City County Parks & Recreation is looking for rest stop volunteers for it's "Bike the Bridge" event taking place Saturday, April 4, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Each station will be responsible for keeping track of snacks and providing route information and access to first aid to all ride participants.  All supplies will be provided by JCC Parks & Recreation.  In addition we'll need volunteers for Ride Marshals.  The route will start in James City County, cross the Chickahominy River and enter into Charles City County along the Virginia Capital Trail.  Starting location will be mile marker 0 of the Virginia Capital Trail.  Routes options include 15, 25 and 50 miles.6 Volunteers are needed for each of the following stations:

• Chickahominy Riverfront Shelter: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  2 volunteers 
• Chickahominy Riverfront Shelter: 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  2 volunteers
• 12.5 Mile Marker Shelter: 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 a.m.  1 volunteer
• 25 Mile Marker Shelter: 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.  1 volunteer

5 Volunteers are needed as Ride Marshals who will roam back and forth within these mileage segments.

• Ride Marshal 1 will roam between Start/mile marker zero and 7.5 mile marker (Time: 8:15AM to 10:30 M)
• Ride Marshal 2 will roam between Start/mile marker zero and 7.5 mile marker (Time: 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM)
• Ride Marshal 3 will roam between mile marker 7.5 to mile marker 16 (Time: 8:45 AM to 10:45 AM)
• Ride Marshal 4 will roam between mile marker 7.5 to mile marker 16 (Time: 10:45 AM to 12:30 AM)
• Ride Marshal 5 will roam between mile marker 16 to mile marker 25 (Time: 9:30 AM to 11:45 PM)

 Notes:

• Rest Stop 1  Chickahominy Rest Station is located at the Big pool shelter neart the VCT parking area WITHIN THE PARK.  Restrooms are available onsite.  Supplies will be delivered to the building Friday afternoon and waiting for volunteers Saturday morning.
• Rest stop 2  12.5 Mile Marker Shelter is located at 18252 John Tyler Highway (just past this address) .  Rest station is located between mile markers 12 and 13 along the trail.  Restrooms are not available onsite but public bathrooms are located at Lawrence Lewis Junior Park (12400 Wilcox Wharf Road, Charles City)
• Rest Stop 3  25 Mile Marker is located by 7501 John Tyler Highway.  Rest station is located at mile marker 25 along the trail.  Restrooms are not available onsite but public bathrooms are located at Lawrence Lewis Junior Park (12400 Wilcox Wharf Road, Charles City)
