Walker's Journey Back to Blacksburg

For all WABbits who have been asking about Walker Van Kirk's bike trip back to VT, I have an update. Walker called me earlier today to let me know he was safely back at Tech, but was unable to complete the entire journey on his bike. He ended up at the top of Afton Mountain, several miles onto the Blue Ridge Parkway, when the extreme cold started to create some worrisome problems for him. Using his better judgement, he reached out to his parents to come pick him up on Friday (1/16).
We talked about how well he did (>200 miles) and the lessons he learned that he can apply to the next adventure. And he find warmer boots for the trip, so he wasn't riding in those cowboy boots. 
Walker is greatly appreciative of all the love and support he had from our group. And as his T&F mom, I can't express enough how much your support for this young man has meant to me.
