Late last week, Julie Michael was riding the recently re-opened Jamestown Island. As she was entering the Island, she was approached by a Park Ranger and asked for her pass. After telling him her Senior Pass was at home, he responded that if you are going to ride the Island, and the Parkway, you should always have your pass with you. She was allowed to continue her ride.
No idea if this is a random stopping or if the Park Service intends to start enforcing the need for a pass. I would suggest you keep your pass in your saddlebag for the next couple of months until we see if this is a trend or a one-time occurrence.
