The weather forecast for Friday, May 9, does not look good.  The hourly probability of rain is about 50% from early morning through early afternoon.  Given that C2C is not a WAB event, WAB will not be canceling (actually, cannot cancel) the ride due to weather.  Use your own judgment about whether to ride or not.  If you do ride on Friday, the planned WAB start time at Chickahominy Riverfront Park is 8:00 a.m.  If the weather is dry and many are riding, we will “release” the A/A-, B+, B, C, and D groups every 30 seconds from 8:00 to 8:02 a.m.  However, if the weather is wet, you are on your own.  Find your pace-mates at 8:00 a.m. and launch, or start riding and find others riding at your pace as you go. C2C is a two-day event, and Saturday’s weather forecast looks much better than Friday’s.  However, the C2C website states:  “You can only ride [the official C2C event] on the day(s) you registered.  Your lunch and beverage tickets will only be [redeemable] on [that] day.  … In case of severe weather, the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the ride for safety concerns.  In any case, we do not refund ride fees, transfer registration to another year, transfer registration to another day, or transfer registration to other riders.  In the unlikely case a ride is canceled, you may claim your registration fee as a tax-deductible donation.”  If you registered to ride on Friday but decide to ride on Saturday, your ride will be unsupported (no C2C lunch, no C2C beverage tickets, and no C2C rest stop food/water).  However, there are several places to obtain free or purchased water (mile markers 6.5, 13, 20, 41, et al.) and several stores and restaurants where food can be purchased, especially in the last six miles approaching Richmond.  Stay safe and enjoy the ride, soggy or not.
