Strawberry Fields Forever .
see calendar / ride sign up . Come join us for a different type of ride this Tuesday, May 6. Rather than a ride up the VCT at different paces we thought we first detour a-bit and play the characters of Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor and do the Green Acre thing and go pick strawberry’s between pedal strokes for all three pace groups. D’s,C’s and B’s.There is a farm that has strawberry plants that are available for the public to pick. We thought we would launch from the Jamestown settlement parking lot and head to the Colonial Parkway for about a mile then detour onto the Neck O Land trail and make a left Constance Ave. and ride that to the end where the farm is located. We will pick strawberries for about 15 to 20 minutes and fill our respective containers. Diane will be there with the van and she will transport our fresh strawberries back to the settlement parking lot, where you can then safely store your strawberries before we continue our ride down the VCT. We will ride to the top of the Chickahominy Bridge , take a few group shots and then head back to the parking lot. Sunset is at 8:00 pm tomorrow so we should be back to the parking lot by then. Bring a headlight if you want just in case. The farm will stay open specifically for us and we can pick a 1 gallon container for $20.00, quart containers for 6.00 and pint containers for $3.50. The farm only accepts cash so rob those piggy banks and come and join us for a fun sunset ride out of the Jamestown settlement parking lot this Tuesday. After the ride and when we get back to the parking lot we just might have to enjoy some fresh strawberries with pound cake and whip cream .
