Cap2Cap on May 9 was created by Harry Levins (harrylevins)
The WAB Calendar now shows two Cap2Cap events on May 9:
1. A 6.5-mile, 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., multi-pace ride from Jamestown Settlement (JS) to Chickahominy Riverside Park (CRP). This ride is designed to enable cyclists who want to ride a full century to join the 8:00 a.m. “main” event, described next.
2. A multi-pace ride launching at 8:00 a.m. from CRP and heading west on the VCT. From CRP to downtown Richmond and back is about 89 miles. If you want a full century, sign up for both rides, and after returning to CRP, ride back to JS. You will end up with 6.5 + 89 + 6.5 = ~102 miles.
When launching from CRP, we are asking WAB members to form into pace groups and launch in the following order (each group separated by 30 seconds): A/A-, B+, B, C, and D. Around 7:55 a.m., we will try to facilitate this.
Please sign up on the Calendar for one or both new events. If you have not registered with Cap2Cap as a member of the “Williamsburg Area Bicyclist” team, please do so as described in the 8:00 a.m. event on the Calendar. (Note that you are not required to register with WAB, and you are not required to register with Cap2Cap (although you must register with Cap2Cap to enjoy its rest stop food/water and lunch. Anyone can ride on the VCT at any time.)
Cap2Cap is not a WAB event, and the rides posted on the WAB Calendar are informational, non-WAB rides! We used to organize WAB rides to participate in the Cap2Cap, but new insurance rules do not permit us to organize WAB rides as part of a non-WAB event. Therefore, this minimal organizing effort is simply an attempt to facilitate your finding riding companions who will be moving at your chosen pace.
