As of Thursday afternoon, CSX has completed work on the Diascund Rd. and Lightfoot Rd. railroad crossings. The Diascund crossing is definitely smoother, and the Lightfoot crossing is improved. I assume the Airport Rd. crossing work is also complete (but did not personally check).
The CSX railway line runs east-west through the middle of our peninsula. As noted in previous postings, CSX will be closing three crossings for several days during the period from March 25 through April 2: Airport Rd., Lightfoot Rd, and Diascund Rd. However, if you wish to ride north of the RR tracks, three crossings will remain open: via the east end of Mooretown Rd. (the RR crosses under the nearby US 60 bypass), via Croaker Rd. (the RR passes underneath), and via US 60 just west of Toano (again, the RR passes underneath).

WILLIAMSBURG — CSX Transportation and Southern Commercial Development LLC recently announced upcoming railroad crossing closures in the Williamsburg area.On or about March 25, work will begin in Williamsburg.

rail crossings will be closed to all traffic and will reopen once work is completed.According to CSX, each crossing closure is expected to last between three and five days. Crossings that serve as the sole access for residents will be prioritized to minimize disruption, with closures targeted for completion within 12 hours.Work will continue alongside the railroad and will also impact travel in nearby Lanexa.Signs will be up to mark detour routes while work is ongoing. CSX has also
provided a Google Map
to show marked closures and the expected timeframe for those closures.
I saw this posted on FB. March 26th possible Diascund Rd closing, but John's ride is planned from Indian Fields that day, so nowhere near that. Passing along for awareness.
