There was a question about the statement about taking the ferry and riding to the Surry Government Bldg. The ride assumes participants will take there car on the ferry and driving to the start of thr 30 mile Though you do have the option of parking your car at Jamestown Settlement and riding your bike to the start. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to get to the start by 9:30.

Both myself and Martha DeBord will be offering a C Pace (SURRY 03 30m to Chippokes) and D Pace (Surry 14 19m Chippokes Park) ride next Thursday, July 4th, The rides start at 9:30 a.m. at the Surry County Government Offices just south of downtown Surry. To make it to the starting location on time, please catch the 8:30 a.m. Jamestown Ferry and ride the four miles to the start once you reach the south side of the James River.
After leaving the rest stop at Chippokes, we'll be stopping at College Run Farms for Ice Cream. The blueberry ice cream is to die for. For those that can attend, we'll also be having lunch at The Surry Seafood Company resturant. If at all possible, please wear something that is to red, white and blue to celebrate July 4th Independence Day.
