The 2024 Cap2Cap to benefit the VA Capital Trail is still 4 months away, but registration is open. If you plan to participate in the event and would like to ride with other WABbits, WAB is offering organized club rides. We will ride on Friday, May 10th, when the party zone is at Chickahominy Riverfront Park. I am organizing a B+ century ride, likely average 16.0-16.5 mph. I expect, based on early registrations, that the group will split into faster riders and slower riders, no problem. If we find a leader and there is interest, we will also offer a C pace, likely a shorter distance.
There are 2 registrations involved. To join the WAB group, please register on the WAB calendar so we know the group size. To use the rest stops and enjoy the party zone, you must also register on the Cap2Cap site at
Cap2Cap.
When you register, be sure to join the “Williamsburg Area Bicyclists” team (the password is WAB2023). The fee currently is $65 for the 100-mile ride, with $5 price bumps 2/5, 4/1, and 5/9. Cap2Cap also offers 50- and 25-mile distances. If you already registered on the Cap2Cap site, but did not join our team, go back to the registration site, scroll all the way to the bottom, click on Teams, pick the WAB team, and join.
The B+ group will meet at the kiosk right outside Chickahominy Park and launch at 7:30 a.m. We ride the trail from Chickahominy Park to Great Shiplock Park and back, which is 89 miles. One would also have to ride from Chickahominy to Jamestown Settlement and back to total 100 miles, or ride from home for the extra miles.
