Two Drummers Spring Fling

TWO DRUMMERS COUNTRY RIDE

Two Drummers' Restaurant (8864 Richmond Road W, Toano) provides a fantastic start and finish point for a warm spring ~ 25-mile bike ride.

We will depart Two Drummers, go west on Route 60 for a short stretch, then head northeast on Barnes Road to enjoy the country roads and the spring foliage of rural VA.  Intersecting Route 30, we will take a short sprint east and turn left into the Stonehouse community, where we will experience the wide smooth pavement and the rollers of Fieldstone Parkway.  We will next parallel I-64 on the rough and tumble Mt. Laurel Rd that eventually turns into the more reasonable Ware Creek Rd.  We will then take an easy spin southwest on Croaker Rd where we will once again encounter Route 60. It is just a short sprint west up the usually traffic-laden Route 60 to Toano.  In Toano, we will take a left and head north on Chickahominy Rd to Little Creek Dam Rd that will take us around the scenic Little Creek Reservoir.  If necessary the ride leader can divert for a short ride to Little Creek Reservoir Park where you can grab a "natural break." From there we will work our way west on Forge Road, to Diascund Rd, climb up the rural Barnes Road, and then take Route 60 east for a short sprint back to Two Drummers for our recovery.

The ride is advertised as a "B" pace, 14-16 mph average. Rolling average will be around 15.  I will be glad to accommodate C+ riders as well. This is a no-drop ride.

Warm temperatures are predicted. It should be a great day for cycling!
