The Cycling Virginia website lists numerous cycling events including and in addition to those listed below. 

Join James City County for the annual Bike the Bridge event. Registration of $20 includes refreshments at rest stops, a T-shirt and lunch, a great bargain ($25 after March 21, registration closes April 1).  Ride on your own or join club members for 15, 25 or the 50 mile routes.  Event by JCC Parks and Recreation.

100, 62, 33 mile rides.  Scenic, flat, countryside course through the beautiful Pasquotank & Perquimans Counties in northeastern NC.  You'll cycle by multiple waterfront areas and the majestic countryside, passing farmlands, pastures, barns, and historic homes. You'll pedal by horses, cows, birds, turtles, and other wildlife. Our countryside skylines are amazing!

There will be coffee, water, juice, and light snacks before the ride (we'll be bringing back our famous Balls, Bacon, Bananas, and Brews (coffee, not beer); and our usual great SAG stops during the ride with the famous devilled eggs, banana bread, smoothies, sweet potato biscuits; "sweet cycling crack," PBandJs, and more! Enjoy a "hot dog bar" with lots of add-ons and drinks post-ride.

3 days of cycling on routes of varying distances from 15-100 miles.  Registration fee includes RWGPS routes, outdoor/indoor camping, SAG support, rest stops, catered meal at the social, beverage garden, entertainment, and more.  Details and the event registration are at https://ncsports.org/event/cyclenc_coastal_ride/.  Registration fee: $240 to 9/30; $255 to 11/15; $270 to 3/13/26; $285 after.

There is also an event on the WAB website calendar.  If you would like to meet up with, ride with, and stay informed of WAB-specific activities during the event, please sign up there also.  This will be the easiest / only communication link for WAB to use during the event to inform the group of evening plans, organize daytime group rides, etc.

Benefits the Virginia Capital Trail.  The event will take place both on May 8th with a party zone at Chickahominy Riverfront Park (James City County) and on May 9th with a party zone at Dorey Park (Henrico County).  Distances of 100, 50, 25, 7 miles.  Register on the WAB calendar event also to ride with other WABbits on Friday.

All-inclusive, 3-day/2-night (Friday to Sunday) package of recreational cycling, in scenic, central PA.  This event is run in partnership with the non-profit National 9/11 Memorial Trail Alliance (911trail.org).  See website for details.

22, 24, 25, & 30 mile routes - making a total of 101 miles for a century if you do them all, or mix and match, your choice!  Fully-supported (great food!), flat, scenic.  Registration fee: $40.  WAB usually has a contingent.

27, 45, 49, 75 and 100 mile rides in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  Challenging climbing!  Start, finish, and festivities at the Lynchburg YMCA.  Max 800 riders.  Benefits the YMCA of Central Virginia’s Annual Fund.  Indoor & outdoor camping available.

The annual Tour de Madison will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 23.  The tour offers a 65-mile metric century (with 3777 feet of climbing), a 45-mile route (with 2738' of climbing), and a 22-mile family ride.  The registration fee includes rest stops, lunch, SAG support, and a t-shirt (if you register by May 9). 

Register on the TDM website, https://tourdemadison.com.  Registration fee: $50 to 4/4; $65 to 5/22; $75 day of event.  Check-in opens at 7:00am, check-and-go,  at Hoover Ridge Park, 75 Primary School Dr., Madison, VA 22727.  From Madison, drive south on Fairground Road (VA Rte. 687).  Turn left onto Primary School Dr.  In 0.1 mile, turn left onto Hoover Ridge. Continue 0.1 mile to the Park.  The RideWithGPS route is 2024 Tour de Madison Metric Century (65.5).

Travel / accommodations: It is a 2.25- to 2.5-hour drive from Williamsburg to Madison.  If you want to drive the morning of the ride, that’s a very early start.  In the past, members have stayed in Culpeper (Microtel & Baymont) the night before the ride, leaving a 20- to 25-minute drive from Culpeper to Madison in the morning.  UVA graduation is 5/16, so lodging may not be quite as difficult this year.

Bike MS: Colonial Crossroads 2026

100 mile, 100K, 50K, 25K rides.  Revel in the relaxed beauty tucked between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy biking the “Land Between the Waters” with picturesque towns and miles of country farmland.  Sponsored by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.  Includes BBQ lunch.  Jerseys to 1st 150 participants.

Sat 6/20 - Sat 6/27

7-8 day cycling tour with different daily choices for distances and challenges.  The event will start in Norwalk OH, visit Shelby, Wooster, Ashland and then back to Norwalk.  Most days are about 50 miles, with a century option on one day.

7 days of cycling across NC from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic Coast.  Fee includes outdoor camping, luggage transportation, SAG support, rest stops, and more.

River Ride 2026 will take riders along winding wooded lanes, past farm fields in their autumn glory, and by historic towns, churches, and farms steeped in American history.  Routes range from a family-friendly 10 mile loop on quiet farm roads to more advanced routes of 17, 29, 40, and 65 miles.  Rest stops along the way provide opportunities to pause, refresh, and enjoy the beauty of this unique part of Virginia.

Registration is $75.  Funds raised will support Northern Neck Bike Club’s project to develop a new mountain bike trail network in Kilmarnock’s Town Centre Park.

Some of our WABbits commute from here regularly to ride with us.  Maybe we can ride in their home area for a change.  Easy 1-day trip (~90-min drive from Williamsburg).
